The inception of the Team Canada Armwrestling Federation (TCAF) took place in 2019 following a decision by the CAWF Executive to disassociate from WAF. Joey and Ashley Costello, along with Gord Squire, Dave Hicks, and Patrick Callan, were determined to uphold their connection with WAF, and embarked on continuing Canada’s relationship with the world Federation. Fast forward four years, and TCAF is now officially acknowledged by WAF as the sole Armwrestling Federation in Canada.

Through TCAF-sanctioned events, Canadian athletes qualify for participation in a myriad of international competitions, including the North American Championships, the World Armwrestling Championships, and the World Combat Games, just to name a few. This affiliation with WAF not only facilitates our engagement on the global stage but also sport recognition from prestigious bodies such as GAISF, AIMS, FISU, and the International Paralympic Committee, bolstering our pursuit of Olympic recognition.

Excitingly, TCAF has been granted the honor of hosting the 50th World Armwrestling Championship in 2027, marking a significant milestone in our continued commitment to advancing the sport on both national and international fronts.
